    • Description: The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. OVW implements the provisions of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and provides national leadership on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. VOWA creates and supports comprehensive, cost-effective responses to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking under the federal violence Against women’s act. Victim’s can be reliable to become lawful permanent residents due to being a victim of battery or extreme cruelty committed by a US citizen spouse or former spouse.

  • Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)

    • Description: Legislation that allows victims to apply for funds to cover expenses related to the crime, which is then funded by criminals found guilty through restitution. State and local services providers can apply from grants. VOCA supports programs such as victim-witness coordinators, FBI Victim Specialists, The victim notification system, antiterrorism emergency reserve and children justice acts.
