    • Social Security can be obtained if you are 18 years or older, are not currently receiving benefits on your own Social Security record, are unable to work because of a medical condition that is expected to last at least 12 months or result in death; have not been denied disability benefits in the last 60 days.

    • Description: provides monthly payments to people in low-income families, the elderly, children and adults with disabilities, and who are blind. Social Security Income is available for individuals based on low-income who have or haven't worked and provides cash for food, clothing, and shelter as long as the individual meets the resource limit. All cash, money in bank accounts, and savings counts toward the resource limit.  SSI is paid on a sliding scale, reduced in proportion to income.
