A Daily Balance

One way to heal, to find stillness and tranquility is to set boundaries. “Fall in love with the mess of your life ~ the shattered dreams, the broken promises, the unexpected sorrows and joys, all those hoped for tomorrows that never arrived, those beautiful plans that never came to fruition. Sanctify the mess of your life, this wild, uncontrollable, unplanned, unexpected moment of existence. Dignify it with your loving attention, your gratitude.” - Jeff Foster

Be thankful. Be grateful. Set boundaries. Feel deserving. It’s not always easy to have a daily balance. Remember to relax, be present, breathe, network, set a schedule, be creative, clarify roles and expectations, walk, give back and realize that sometimes time is better than money. I still work too much. I get home and often have to go to another shift, catch up on paperwork. Shift focus, find 15 minutes to just sit in her room and listen about middle school drama and cook dinner. We have found our most favorite thing to do is just drive. It’s hard to drive without an end in site, Kansas is rural. But, I’m trying. We love sitting in the dark, listening to music. At times, Evie will crawl onto their laps. I hear, “you’re so cute” or “I love you so much, I’m going to rip your head off”. Joking of course!

Active minds (https://www.activeminds.org) is a mental health and education site for young adults. It talks about the stigma and shame related to getting help. They have some stress less week tool kits. Halfofus (https://www.mentalhealthishealth.us) offers breathing strategies and support for your own mental health growth mindset.
